KHM Receives OHA Grant to Restore Fishponds

Posted on Thursday, May 21st, 2015

KHM has recently been awarded a $200,000 grant from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to return momona (health and abundance) to the land and people of Molokai
through the community-based restoration of two ancient Hawaiian fishponds. Restoration goals of the project include: removing half an acre of mangrove,
rebuilding 500 linear feet of the kuapā (rock wall), removing six tons of gorilla ogo, and maintaining 100% of previously cleared shoreline areas. Social goals of the
project include building leadership in the next generation through year-round internships, engaging community through monthly workdays, educating youth in
environmental stewardship through hands-on programs, and strengthening community through partnerships and outreach.

Uncle Bobby’s Tractor to Malama Lanikaula!!!

Posted on Thursday, April 23rd, 2015

Aloha kakou,
Please help us in our fundraising campaign to help care for one of our sacred sites on Molokai, Ka Ulu Kukui o Lanikaula. Uncle Bobby Alcain
has been helping us for years and asking for nothing in return. This year, when I asked him what I could do to help give back,
he smiled as usual and said he was happy to help. I asked, “Don’t you need anything Uncle? Sometime I could help with?”
and he thought, and then he said, “I could use help getting a tractor to care for Lanikaula.” Not his own farm, not anything for him.
Something to help him volunteer care for Lanikaula. What a beautiful man. And so we are trying to help! If you are able to donate,
big or small, please join us on this “Go Fund Me” page:
