A model of sustainability mauka a makai

Aunty Keri Zacher

Ms. Zacher volunteers for Ka Honua Momona (KHM).  She graduated from California State – Sonoma in 1974 with a double major in English and Psychology.  After earning a teaching credential, she taught English at the middle school and high school level for over 30 years.  After retiring, she and her husband, Malcolm Mackey, moved to Molokai in 2006; they have been volunteering for Ka Honua Momona ever since.  With her background in education, Ms. Zacher has been an invaluable asset to KHM.  Ms. Zacher helps organize – and participates in – community work days, environmental education days, and tours for off-island groups.  She also serves as a high school senior project advisor.  Ms. Zacher paddles outrigger canoes, studies hula, bikes 100 miles a week, and is happiest when she sees fish jump in Ali’i pond.
